CLIENTS
with blackend head and thorax cry,
its glistning wings,it soars to fly,
so shimmering seethro folded delicate,
the tiny antenii on its head,
the flight erratic slow alights,
the spider jumps a hairy fright,
the fly becomes a meal so fast,
the eight eyed monster eats at last,
it must repair its damaged web,
before it sleeps its stomache fed,
but as it toils a bird espyes,
its beak holds fast and off it flys,
its prey held tight, its feathers slick,
it spreads its wings and flys off quick,
the rain pours down forcing to land,
the bird is grasped within its hand,
the Otter bites ,into its bones,
the feathered life expires and moans,
the wet furred creature,without a care,
eats bird and spider and dosent share,
it looks up just in time to see,
a huge Wolfs teeth sink into knee,
its thrown with snarling growls to rocks,
where family tear apart its locks,
the wolves walk miles into a spot,
they all find fish but humans shot,
the largest skin the man will wear,
and sit beside the stream and stare,
and watch the mayfly flitter by,
and look apon the moon and sigh,
the beauty of our planets free,
but life is not,remember me,
for when im gone dont give a care,
it probably was a grizzly bear...!

cuckoo spit,blue tit,dragonfly and daisy,
catkins,dandy lions,hot days are so lazy,
butterflys,flower buds,budias and bumble bees,
bluebells,pussy willow,lilac and young oak trees,
goosegogs,hazlenuts,pine cones and lupins,
honeysuckle,apple blossom,jasmine perfume for our sins,
salings grow nice and slow,and long thin grasses gently blow,
thorny briars,upward stretch,the blue or yellow winding vetch,
drooping bells like fairies skirts,among the jagged hedgerow flirts,
poplars taller than the rest,beat beech and ash, and all the rest,
eldar,holly and summers dew,forgetmenots, snapdragon too,
remind me of the storm that flew,
its lightning fearfull such a scare,
forgotten now in Suns full glare.

2020 was a terrible year, for us it was the worst, by feburary we lost our two cats, muched loved we had them both for 20 years..colyne was never ill ,the fattest,furriest,black cat with the most gorgeous golden yellow eyes, instead of her loud purring she was quiet..unusual for her, we took her to the vet who calmly said, kidney failure - we had to have her put down..i refused to believe him and bought anti-biotics and ignored the evidence of yellow ears and inside her mouth..she just would not respond so we bowed to the inevitable...i cuddled her one last time as he injected her, so sad..I wept and took her home for burial next to her sister gone long ago...but this was just the begining as our other cat jimalso became ill, also kidney failure..Jim was my favourite, a rescue cat from blue cross in Burford..but he went down too fast to say goodbye ,i felt so bad after i watched him also take the needle.....That same day we had a phone call from the nursing home in Bournemouth telling us my wifes sister was now dead...Oh Dear , our world was shot to pieces..But before we could arrange the funeral, the biggest ever worldwide Pandemic started in a place called Wuhan, in China....in a meat market people started dropping like flys,it was a Virus called Covid-19 or CoronaVirus...there was no known cure so everyone had to wear masks..As the hospitals filled up with sick and dying people westerners made for the airports..the chinese closed the city as foreigners began to leave.. Many landed in heathrow in the following days..some all ready had the deadly Virus so had to be isolated in hotels..coached to a place outside of Liverpool for two-weeks..Others on Cruise ships out there were locked in thier rooms and told to isolate also.. the USA demanded thier return and they were eventually let go..bringing the Virus to the west.. soon the whole country was suffering with thousands of casulties..as the lockdown continued, the spread was controlled, but every time they tried to lift it the spread continued..people were infected ,hospitals filled , patients were send to care homes, and infections spread there too...Vaccines were invented by november the Astro-zenica vaccine was ready given to the eldest patients first,Phizer also made a vaccine but it had to be kept at (-70c) and not many hospitals had cryogenic freezers.. as the lockdown lifted we managed to get a quick holiday - but had to wear masks and sitting apart was no fun.. people behavied mostly but youngster had beach parties with music,drugs and hundreds attending.. police were arresting them, travel was banned over 4miles radius, so no cars, no planes, abroad too..."the end of the world"as we knew it.. at the time of writing this 30million people in the uk have been vaccinated and will soon be safe - we hope.. i wrote many poems during lockdowns , odes, ditties ,memories, i like wildlife so many are about that and hope reading them may bring you enjoyment as i had in writing them..    ian....

AND BARKING DOWN BELOW,
AND SHELTER IN THE WOODLANDS,
FROM THE COLD WINDS WINTER BLOW.
THE HILLS ARE SOMETIMES SHROUDED,
IN A DREAMY WHITE-GREY MIST,
AND ONLY GULLS AND RAVENS WHIRL,
AS COLD WINDS MAKE THE TREE BOUGHS LIST.

The Full Story
ian gray was born in 1956, in the centre of oxford, a post war baby grew up in hard times ,sputnik was launched the following year so classed himself as a space-age baby. he had lots of freedom to play and run as both parents worked and of course children were "seen and not heard"in those days. he loved writing and poetry but not in a serious way at all..During the terrible year of 2020 found time to gather all his poetry and write a book...he loved his garden and nature and that shows in his poems, (all life really) so it was so sad that the world was hit by the biggest pandemic ever known at that time..he hoped that when its all over one could read this book and remember some of our thoughts and feelings as we isolate and hope and wish for a brighter future brighter than any before..i write snippets of nature between this gloom,to add atmosphere and also a few favourites of my own, ones that add feelings or emotions that hopefully compliment my poetry...
